Meg (@historywithmegs) is a public historian, writer and digital creator specialising in women’s history.

Her work focuses on uncovering the lived experiences of women from the past, using surviving documents, artworks, and material culture to tell their stories with depth, empathy, and nuance. 

Meg combines academic rigour with a warm, accessible tone that resonates across her platforms. She has several years of hands-on experience in the heritage sector and is passionate about making history personal, relatable and inclusive online. 

Meg is the creator of the popular #MoreThanAMistress and #MoreThanAMuse series, in which she re-examines women who have been popularly remembered in reductive ways, reframing them with humanity and historical context. Her ability to blend insight with relatability has helped her cultivate a highly engaged audience  across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube and Threads. 

In 2024, Meg was selected as one of 20 creative collaborators working with the National Gallery as part of its bicentenary celebrations. She has also worked with Tullie House Museum in Carlisle, where her research on the poet Susanna Blamire now features as part of the museum’s major gallery redevelopment. She also appears regularly on BBC local and national radio, offering commentary and insight on women’s history and material culture. 

Across her content, Meg is known for making the past personal, offering history that is not only informative but deeply human.
